A Day in the Life of a Pet Sitter: Rush-Hour Traffic, Doggy Daycare and Catching Up at Home
A Monday morning that began with rush-hour traffic, a rather noisy passenger in the backseat and an eventful trip to doggy daycare continued with more pet-sitting commitments, dog walks and cat visits, alongside some much-needed time at home to catch up with things that had been piling up. Between unexpected heavy traffic and a cancelled lunchtime appointment, it was a busy day in its own way, but a welcome change of pace after a couple of hectic weeks. Sometimes, being productive is not about doing more. It is about getting through the day, finding your rhythm and finally having a chance to catch your breath.
I Wish Virtual Pet Sitting Was a Thing
Pet sitting might look like cuddles, walks and happy pets, but there’s another part of the job that happens long before I reach the front door: the journey. Between motorways, roundabouts, holiday traffic and drivers who seem to think they’re starring in Fast & Furious, getting to an appointment can sometimes feel like an adventure of its own. I often find myself wishing for one simple piece of technology - a teleport button. Because as lovely as virtual work can be, dogs still need someone to physically show up.

After a turbulent period in my life and the heartbreaking loss of my two beloved dogs within hours of each other, an unexpected idea appeared while I was doing something ordinary: housework. This is the story of how that idea changed the direction of my life.
